Product Specifications
Format: Frozen cryovials or Ready-to-Use Liquid
Volume: 500mL (Custom volumes available)
Special Formulations:
Neurovascular Niche Medium (with astrocyte-conditioned factors)
Hypoxia-Adapted Medium (1% O₂ for ischemic modeling)
Product Overview
A premium, scientifically optimized medium designed specifically for culturing immortalized brain vascular fibroblasts (hBVFs, HBVP lines). This formulation supports robust proliferation while maintaining BBB-relevant functionality, including extracellular matrix (ECM) secretion and angiogenic potential—critical for neurovascular research.
Physicochemical Properties
pH: 7.2–7.4 (stable CO₂ buffering)
Osmolality: 310–330 mOsm/kg (physiologically balanced)
Color: Red (phenol red for pH monitoring)
Key Benefits
✔ Validated Performance:
Consistent doubling time (30–36 hrs) for hBVFs
Preserves cerebrovascular markers (CD13+, PDGFR-β+, α-SMA+)
Supports ECM production (Collagen IV, laminin by ELISA/ICC)
✔ Functional Assay-Ready:
Ideal for angiogenesis studies (tube formation, endothelial co-culture)
Compatible with hypoxia experiments (optional 1% O₂ formulation)
✔ Quality Guaranteed:
Pre-screened for mycoplasma, viruses, and sterility
Available in serum-free or low-serum options
Storage & Stability
Liquid Medium:
Unopened: 12 months at 2–8°C
Opened: 4 weeks at 2–8°C
Frozen Medium:
–20°C (avoid repeated freeze-thaws)
Recommended Culture Protocol
Subculture Steps:
Rinse cells with Ca²⁺/Mg²⁺-free PBS.
Detach using 0.25% trypsin-EDTA (2–5 min, 37°C).
Neutralize with trypsin inhibitor, centrifuge (200 ×g, 5 min).
Reseed at 5,000–10,000 cells/cm² in coated flasks (T25/T75).
Feeding Schedule:
Refresh medium every 2–3 days
Passage at 70–80% confluency (prevents senescence)
